Player Write Up

Cade King | Class of 2027 | Clackamas High School | Happy Valley, OR

Height/Weight: 6'3", 210lbs.

Primary Position: RHP | Secondary Position: DH | Bats/Throws: R/R

Cade King presents a tall, athletic build with significant strength through his legs and core. His physicality and athleticism translate well to the mound, and he has developed a delivery that creates deception while allowing his present stuff to play at a high level. His combination of physical tools, pitch quality, and preparation makes him one of the more dominant right-handed pitchers in the region.

King works from the middle of the rubber out of the set position and utilizes a high leg kick with significant hip turn. He does an excellent job hiding the baseball throughout the delivery, creating deception for hitters and making his stuff difficult to pick up. His three-pitch arsenal is led by a four-seam fastball that sits 88-91 mph and has topped out at 92. The fastball generates approximately 2300 rpm, giving him a quality combination of velocity and spin. His slider sits 75-79 mph with similar spin characteristics around 2300 rpm, while the 81 mph changeup provides another option. King primarily relies on the four-seam and curveball when he gets ahead in the count, and the ability to pair the two while maintaining his deception makes him particularly difficult to handle.

Makeup: King takes his preparation seriously and approaches pitching with a level of maturity that stands out. He is not simply focused on throwing harder; he actively asks meaningful questions about how he can improve and demonstrates a willingness to reflect on his performance. That self-awareness and desire to understand the details of pitching are strong indicators of his ability to continue developing.

Overall: King has established himself as one of the more dominant RHPs in the region because of the combination of present velocity, deception, pitch quality, and pitching intelligence. The 88-91 mph fastball with a 92 mph top end gives him a legitimate foundation, while the 75-79 mph curveball provides a quality complementary weapon. His ability to hide the baseball and create deception further enhances the arsenal. Continued refinement of his command and secondary pitches, combined with his mature approach to preparation and self-evaluation, gives King a strong foundation to project as a legitimate next-level pitching prospect.
