Height/Weight: 6'4", 195 lbs.
Primary Position: 3B | Secondary Position: RHP | Bats/Throws: R/R
Collin McGowan is a 6’4’’ 195 lb. 2028 out of Battle Ground WA and attends Battle Ground High School. Large, athletic frame with projectability. Obvious added strength over the last year. Primary 3B has the defensive versatility to play anywhere on the field. Aggressive baserunner and good anticipation on the bases. Wide stance at the plate with high hands. Stays inside the ball allowing him to drive the ball to right field. Quick hips enable him to turn on anything inner half. Power to all fields.
Quick feet behind the plate allows him to smother balls in the dirt. Strong arm, not afraid to throw behind the runner. Receives the ball with solid framing skills. Pop time 2.1. Has quickness at the hot corner and can cover ground. Works through the ball and has plenty of arm for the position.
Works down the mound with a long stride and a 3/4 arm slot. Works with tempo and has an intimidating frame coming off the bump. Finishes pitches in good defensive position. Features a FB topping out at 82 mph and a swing and miss slider at 72 mph. Good student.
2024
Collin has a physical presence and shows hustle and leadership qualities. He is tall, well-built, and plays with confidence. His frame and tools give him big upside.
At third base, he shows good mobility, staying low and moving well laterally. He has a strong arm and can make big plays, though improving consistency with the glove will make him even more reliable. On the mound, Collin works from a high ¾ arm slot with smooth mechanics and easy arm action. His fastball has good velocity and he forces weak contact as a strike thrower. The curveball has potential to be a true strikeout pitch if thrown with more confidence, and the changeup is still developing. With his size and arm action, the upside to dominate is real.
At the plate, Collin brings lots of power. When he finds the barrel, the ball is crushed. He consistently hits balls hard and can leave the yard in BP with easy pop. He has confidence at the plate, and while still a little raw, the potential is huge once he fully harnesses his body.
On the bases, Collin runs well for his size. He can steal a bag when called upon, and while his jumps and secondaries can improve, his athleticism plays.
