Primary Position: 3B | Secondary Position: RHP | Bats/Throws: R/R
Eli Reese, a 5'9", 165-pound 2029 prospect from Albany, OR, is set to attend West Albany High School. With an athletic build and a low center of gravity, Eli moves well on the field. Primarily a third baseman, he handles the hot corner confidently and boasts impressive arm strength for his age. His fielding mechanics are smooth, and he’s shown noticeable growth in his overall game throughout the past month.
On the mound, Eli throws right-handed from a low arm slot, generating significant run on his pitches. While his stride is relatively short, it allows him to get over his front foot effectively, driving downhill with purpose. He pounds the zone, inducing soft contact and making quick work of opposing hitters.
At the plate, Eli displays power as a right-handed hitter. He starts from a balanced stance with his bat at rest before loading, using a hovering front foot to time his swing. His hands come through on time, and he shows maturity in two-strike situations by adjusting his load and using a toe tap for timing.
Eli has been a standout player in the NW Summer League and is a 2029 to watch closely as he continues to develop. His impressive performance makes him a player to follow moving forward.
Jared McGowan (2024)
Eli has a compact build with a strong lower half. He’s sturdy and plays with intent.
He’s a vacuum at third base with dependable hands. His reaction-time is on point and he finishes plays with confidence.
In the box, he stands with one foot open and uses a slight leg kick for rhythm. He finds the barrel consistently, keeps a good head slot, stays on top of the ball, and drives it with authority. There’s plenty of pop. Timing and rhythm have a little room to improve, which will only elevate the power that already shows up.
He’s a smart baserunner. He doesn’t have blazing speed but he still steals bases by getting great jumps and reading the pitcher’s hands.
