Kayden Dabbs | Class of 2028 | Sunset High School | Portland, OR

Height/Weight: 5'9", 145lbs.
Primary Position: 1B | Secondary Position: RHP | Bats/Throws: R/R

Kayden Dabbs is a promising 2028 prospect set to attend Sunset High School. Primarily stationed at first base, Kayden shows advanced footwork and glove work, consistently working from the ground up on picks. He exhibits strong body control when fielding on the move and maintains a good feel for keeping balls in front of him. His ability to change arm angles situationally and quickly recover to cover the bag on double plays speaks to his defensive awareness and agility.

On the mound, Kayden works with a clean, rhythmic delivery from a ¾ arm slot. His velocity continues to trend upward, and he demonstrates command of a solid pitch mix, keeping hitters off balance. Kayden shows impressive poise and maturity, remaining composed regardless of the game situation.

Offensively, the right-handed hitter takes a controlled, gap-to-gap approach at the plate. He gets the barrel on plane early, generating consistent contact to the middle and opposite field. His disciplined approach and strong contact rates reflect a high work ethic and a foundation for continued development.

Kayden is a well-rounded athlete with a high ceiling and a strong foundation on both sides of the ball.

  • Jared McGowan (2024 Write-Up)

Kayden is a great kid who clearly loves the game. He competes with energy, keeps the dugout light, and brings a coachable, team-first attitude every day.

At first base, he shows soft hands and picks the ball confidently. On the mound, he works from a high three-quarters arm slot. He is a strike-thrower that forces contact. He fields his position well. The fastball comes out with life and firm velocity. The changeup is a useful off-speed pitch he can locate. Refinement of his pitching tool will sharpen the mix even more.

Offensively, he hits from a wide base with an aggressive and powerful stride. He swings with intent, shows bat speed, and finds the barrel consistently. He can pull the ball for power but still makes hard contact to all fields.

On the bases, he is not built on speed but he uses his IQ. He reads the ball off the bat well, gets good jumps, and keeps pressure on the defense.
