Kye Leenders is a 6’1’’ 195 lb. 2027 out of Sherwood OR and attending Sherwood High School.  Elite physicality in his frame with muscular build.  Primarily 1B with developing glove work and understanding of the position. Has a strong arm with good ball transfer skills.

Left-handed hitter that displays gap to gap power and can drive the ball to all fields.  Starts with a slightly open stance with high hand set, compact swing allows his quick hands to produce effortless pop.  Has good speed which can create pressure for defenses. (7.04 60 yd)

Works downhill efficiently with a fastball, change, and slider offering. Fastball has natural arm side run away from right-handed hitters (max velo 85 mph). Both off-speed pitches have shown effectiveness in keeping hitters off balance. A deceptive pickoff move at first can keep the running game in check.  Great student.

Kye is a big kid with a strong lower half and noticeable presence. He plays with energy and brings toughness to his game, and as his flexibility improves, his overall athleticism will take another step forward.

At first base, Kye shows good range and is light on his feet for his size. His glove is dependable, and he has the ability to make difficult plays look easy. On the mound, he throws left-handed with a lot of feel. He pitches to contact, misses barrels, and could profile well as a set-up man or someone who comes in after a hard-throwing righty.

At the plate, Kye is a left-handed hitter with real power. He stays on top of the ball well, has good hands, and has good pitch selection. When his timing is right, the ball explodes off his bat. He hit lots of home runs in both BP and game situations, and the power potential is a clear strength of his offensive game.

On the bases, Kye hustled out a double but still has room to improve overall speed and baserunning instincts. Continued work on jumps and secondary leads will help him round out his game.
