Maddox is a tall, coachable player with a positive demeanor and a good eye at the plate. He is a nice kid who hustles and is eager to learn, making him a strong teammate.

Defensively, Maddox plays shortstop with rhythm and range. His smooth hands and solid arm make him dependable, and he fields with balance and confidence. On the mound, he works from a high three-quarters slot with a slightly over-the-top delivery, consistently filling up the zone with strikes.

At the plate, Maddox is a line-drive hitter with good barrel control. He throws his hands well, creates backspin, and has shown the ability to hit the ball to the opposite field. His balanced stance allows him to drive balls up the middle, and his bunting ability adds versatility. There is more power in his swing waiting to come out as he matures.

On the bases, Maddox shows hustle and smart instincts. He once picked up an extra bag on a missed cutoff, showing his awareness and aggressiveness.
