Mathias brings a positive, coachable presence and steady competitive focus. He is mature in his routine and gives an honest effort each day.

On the mound, he works from a three-quarters to slightly over-the-top release. This creates downhill angle on the fastball. He tunnels a well-located changeup from the same slot and pairs it with a curveball that has real shape. He mixes timing, throws strikes, and has enough velocity and command to miss barrels. His heavy ball and sequencing ability stand out.

With the bat, he handles it respectably for a pitcher. He stays through the middle and contributes when called upon.

Baserunning is not his separator, but he competes with effort and runs hard.
