Riley Via presents a tall, wiry physical profile with significant room to add strength and weight. He currently brings value as a two-way player, but the pitching profile projects as his clearest path to significant playing time at the next level. The physical projection combined with his present pitching ability gives him meaningful upside as he continues to mature.

Offense: Via works from a tall stance and hits effectively from a strong front side. He does a good job using his length and frame to create leverage and get the most out of his physical profile. His high-intent swings show an aggressive approach, and continued strength development should help determine how much the offensive tools ultimately translate.

Defense: Via is a solid receiver with soft hands and dependable fundamentals behind the plate. He blocks the baseball well and shows an accurate throwing arm, consistently producing a 2.0-2.1 pop time. His ability to receive, block, and control the running game gives him legitimate value behind the plate even as his long-term projection begins to lean toward the mound.

Pitching: Pitching is clearly Via's best present tool and the area with the most next-level upside. He features a three-pitch mix with a fastball that sits 85-87 mph and has reached 88, along with a 71 mph curveball and 71-76 mph slider. His command stands out, as he consistently works ahead of hitters and puts himself in favorable counts. Both off-speed pitches give him legitimate weapons, with the slider currently serving as his primary out pitch. The combination of present velocity, command, pitchability, and physical projection makes the mound a compelling long-term fit.

Makeup: Via is a highly competitive and intense player, with that competitiveness showing most clearly when he takes the mound. His mentality continues to mature, and he is showing progress in how he handles the challenges of the game. As his physical and mental development continue to align, his overall consistency should continue to improve.

Overall: Via's combination of an 85-87 mph fastball, advanced command, two quality breaking ball offerings, and significant physical projection makes him one of the more intriguing pitching profiles in his current evaluation. While he has legitimate catching ability and two-way value today, the pitching tools point toward the mound as his likely best opportunity to maximize his impact at the next level. Continued strength development and refinement of his secondary pitches could push his ceiling considerably higher.
