Sam Smith is a 5’10’’ 150 lb. 2028 out of Portland OR attending Central Catholic High School. Primary LHP/OF with a strong accurate arm from the outfield. Comes through the ball well and keeps his feet moving. Takes good angles and comes around the ball with good footwork. Good rhythm through the ball and plenty of athleticism to play all outfield positions. Leadership traits that control the outfield.

At the plate, starts with an open stance and quiet hands from the left side. Pretty swing. Lets the ball travel, has quick hands and allows the barrel to stay through the zone. Line drive hitter to all fields. Aggressive base runner with good speed (6.9 seconds in the 60).

Left-handed pitcher that works downhill on the mound with easy motion. Primarily works from the stretch. Fastball in the low 80’s with natural arm side run. Utilizes his slider in the high 60s as a swing and miss pitch. Has plenty of projectability.

Sam is a great kid who plays with hustle and leadership qualities. He wants to be great and already shows the traits of an elite player. His competitiveness and character make him stand out.

Defensively, Sam is a left-handed thrower with a strong arm in the outfield. He tracks balls well, takes aggressive angles, and consistently makes plays. His glove is reliable, and he shows a knack for getting good jumps.

At the plate, he has a good hand and head slot. He has quick-twitch actions and consistently drives the ball to the opposite field. He’s a tough out who delivers in clutch situations and has proven ability to come through when his team needs him most.

On the bases, Sam runs well and uses his speed as a weapon. He picks up extra bags when defenses relax, showing strong IQ and awareness.
